  • DETERMINING GOLD CHAIN COST

Katie will first measure your wrist to determine length in person and can run pricing on any or all of the chain options on site.

If you'd like to get an idea of cost ahead of time -- simply wrap a piece of twine or string around your wrist, ankle, or neck at the same tightness that you'll want your permanent jewelry to be. Measure the length of this string and then multiply the number of inches your bracelet, anklet, or necklace will require by the chain price.

*Prices for GOLD permanent jewelry are calculated by the inch. The price per inch ranges from $12 to $40 per inch depending on the chain weight and style.

As an average -- bracelets tend to cost between $80 and $250.

*Average wrist size is about 6.5"-7", average ankle size is 7.5"-11". Neck chains are typically 15"-18".

*Tax is not included in this calculation, and will be applied at checkout.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Permanent or Forever Jewelry?

It is a custom fit, welded on, claspless piece of jewelry that is the perfect permanent reminder of a special bond, promise, or commitment. Think of it like a 'Jewelry Tattoo' or the ultimate friendship bracelet!

What are the chains made of?

Katie stocks both fine sterling silver and 14K gold chains that can be made into bracelets, anklets, or necklaces.

We may have a limited selection of gold plated or filled chains, but we do not stock as many styles as we don't recommend them. Filled or plated chains only have a thin layer of gold atop another metal, and when this wears away you'll be left with discoloration and/or you may end up turning green!

These styles are less 'permanent' because of this fact, but might be appropriate if you only plan to wear the chain for a season or two. It may also be appropriate for younger individuals for special occasions (like a birthday) that may only plan to wear it temporarily. Gold plated or filled options are gold in color but cost significantly less than 14K because they are not truly gold.

How much does it cost?

Prices for permanent jewelry vary depending on the metal type chosen and length of chain.

Non-gold styles are priced per type (bracelet, anklet, or necklace) as a flat fee.

Gold chains are priced per inch, and cost ranges depending on the chain weight, style, and metal.

Gold chains start at $20 per inch.

Katie can calculate different chain costs in gold at the time of your appointment.

How old do you need to be?

We will weld on anyone over the age of 10.

Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, or have parental consent.

What if I want to bring a friend with me?

Book with your bestie, your significant other, or family. We can service up to 3 people in each 30-minute appointment, and up to 8 people in each one hour appointment.

What if my permanent jewelry breaks?

No worries! Life happens. If your piece breaks (whether or not you bought it from us), we can repair it for a nominal fee of $22 (our normal fee for a simple solder).

Just keep the chain & book a reweld appointment through our booking site above.

How do I care for my permanent jewelry?

Be gentle on it! These chains are thin on purpose, to keep you from being hurt if they are caught during day to day wear. Snags, particularly from pieces that are too loose, from rambunctious babies, toddlers, or pets, are the most likely thing to damage or break your chain.

Solid gold chains should not require cleaning.

Silver chains may tarnish over time. Because they are not removable, we recommend gently rubbing the entire length with a polishing cloth one section at a time. Interior, hard to reach areas may maintain a darker antiqued look even after polishing with a cloth.

When gold filled or plated chains turn colors or turn you, it's time to remove the chain and get a new one if you miss it! No amount of cleaning will bring back worn off gold plating.

What if I want to remove the jewelry in the future?

That's easy! Your permanent jewelry can easily be snipped off at home with a pair of household scissors or wire cutters. If you'r'e uncomfortable doing it yourself, just stop in and Katie will do it for you.

Does 'permanent' really mean forever?

'Permanent jewelry' means that the piece has no clasp and cannot be regularly removed. It must be cut off if/when you decide to stop wearing it.

Permanent jewelry is subject to the same wear and tare as all chain jewelry is, meaning it's 'permanence' depends on how hard you are on it, the weight / thickness of the chain, and the amount of distress put on it by the wearer.

Thin chains rarely last a lifetime when worn daily, so it would be unrealistic to expect one to last forever given daily wear. Having said that -- we've had plenty of people tell us they've loved theirs for a year or more, all the way up to three years or so (about as far back as this trend began!). Since no one's been wearing them longer than that -- we can't give you an exact lifespan, but know it will vary from chain to chain.

As a general rule: The thicker and stronger the chain, the longer it will last. Similarly, the stronger the chain, the more resistant it will be to breaks if it gets snagged.
