  • The Consult

We'll go through all the available options for you during our initial consultation, and you'll get to know the several different class styles that we offer.

You'll get to tell me all of your dream ring ideas and we'll get to know each other a little bit better.

You'll get to ask all of your burning questions and we'll decide if your ring idea is a good fit for a DIY class, as well as if we're a good fit to work together.

    Consultations are always commitment free.

  • Dates + Estimates

Once we've paired you with your perfect class, we'll begin to discuss sourcing the perfect stone and work on estimating your costs.

We'll determine what kind and size stone you'd like and what kind of style you're interested in, which will give us the information needed to create an estimate of material costs.

This is also where we can discuss all of your available material options (including using your own heirloom gold if you would like to).

We'll move on from these conversations to beginning a search for the perfect stone.

Once we've found it and worked out all of the details of your future Engagement Ring, we'll get your class date booked on our calendar.

  • The Day Of

THIS IS IT! It's where the magic (and hard work) begins.

We'll work together for one full day (or two) to create the dream ring from scratch.

This process is an involved, technical, all day (or multi-day) event!

I'll be by your side every step of the way acting as your personal jewelry design and technical expert, ensuring you create a beautiful, professional quality ring.

You'll leave this one of a kind experience with a professional looking ring and a special feeling of accomplishment knowing you made the ring she'll wear for a lifetime yourself.

FAQ's

What If I have never made anything before?!

You're in the right place! This class is tailored for beginners, and Katie works with students with ZERO experience on the daily.

Your ring will still look professional, and Katie will be working one-on-one alongside you throughout the entire process.

Rest assured, Katie will not allow you to choose something too complicated or too advanced to be accomplished in the scope of this class. If it's too complicated, it may not be a good fit for this class, and you may be better suited to go for custom design.

Do we get to use a torch?

YES! We have several to choose from.

You might even get to use the BIG one, if you're lucky!

It's everyone's favorite part.

Do we have to make a plain ring?

Classic rings do lend themselves well to this class, but you certainly don't have to stick to that aesthetic.

We have lots of different texture options as well as traditional and modern finishes you can choose from.

If there's something really special or particular you'd like to include, let's discuss it and hash out whether or not it's a good fit for a class or if it will require modifications to our standard timeline.

How much does it cost?

Good question -- with a not super easy answer.

It's no more expensive than having a custom ring designed is, and it's not necessarily less expensive, either, but it can be. It really just depends on the design!

The most expensive part of the process tends to be the materials, as we are always at the mercy of precious metal costs (which fluctuate all the time).

What if I have my own stone(s)?

That's something we should discuss on our first call, and it's likely that I'll need to see and inspect the stones you have.

If you have high quality stones that will be good candidates for resetting, we can look at using them. There are certain circumstances where you'll need more of my help setting than in others, and we need to consider this on a case-by-case basis.

You won't be able to set little stones yourself (that takes MANY hours of focused education and practice and is beyond the scope of this type of beginner class), but if we plan for them and leave space for them, Katie can set them for you after you've made your ring. We can include estimates for that if you're interested in adding a little bling.

The same thing is true of hand engraving.
